What is Equine Sports Massage?
Think of the Chiropractic Treatment you receive for a sports injury and you have Equine Massage Therapy.
The Equine Sports Massage Therapy developed along with Human Sports Massage Therapy and the two practises are closely related.
Both have been practised for many years.
Sports Massage Therapy works for you, it works for your horse.

Equine Massage
Equine Sports Massage
Sports Therapy or Muscular Therapy is used to enhance performance and prevent injury.
It assists the horse to work in comfort and therefore able to perform to its best potential.
"No athlete should have to wait to be hurt before getting help. It is much better to prevent than correct".
Tested on Humans - used on Horses.
Equine Sports Massage is the therapeutic application of 'hands on' massage techniques for the purpose of increasing circulation,
relaxing muscle spasms, relieving tension, enhancing muscle tone and increasing the range of motion.
45 - 60 minute Session £30.00
Equine Solarium
Equine Solarium
Equine Solarium (Radiant Heat - Infrared,IR)
The therapeutic benefit of the Equine Solarium is that the heat energy penetrates the skin to the underlying muscle tissue and the warmth helps stimulate
blood circulation.
Equine Solarium Heat Treatment improves muscle elasticity aiding recovery from injury. You can almost see her smiling.
Heat Treatment is recommend and widely used in the treatment of human sporting and work related muscle strain injuries. The Barffvale Equine Solarium facility makes
these treatments and therefore the recognised benefits, available to your horse too. 20 minute Session £15.00
Light Therapy
Light Therapy
Equine Light Therapy
Intensive infra-red shower with wavelength of 600nm is designed for localised treatment of
wounds, pain centres and chronic diseases.
Equine Light Therapy can also be used for the gentle stimulation of
acupuncture points.
Tested on Humans - used on Horses.
Infrared light therapy works by emitting energy in the infrared spectrum to provide temporary relief of minor muscle
and joint pain, arthritis, muscle spasm, relieves stiffness, relaxes muscle tissue and temporarily increases local blood circulation.
Infrared light acts on hemoglobin in blood to cause the release nitric oxide. Nitric oxide causes the dilation of blood vessels to increase
circulation and the delivery of oxygen to tissue. This increased circulation and oxygen can help heal damaged tissue. Nitric oxide also acts
on nerves to decrease or eliminate pain. extract from drnelsonclinic.com
Percussion
Percussion Massager
The robust hand-held percussion massager increases muscle tone, builds up weak muscles, improves strength and conformation and
encourages old and stiff horses to use dormant muscles. With its 5 massage intensities, 3 inter-changeable heads including heat
option it allows deep muscle penetration.
20 minute Session £15.00
Bemer 3000 Vet
Bio-electro-magnetic therapy works by restoring a living organism's electro-magnetic balance at cellular level.
Bemer therapy supplies the body's organism with energy in a holistic fashion to enable the body to activate natural self-healing and
self-regulating processes. Even if an organ or function has deteriorated considerably due to illness, the
energy supplied to the cells through the BEMER therapy will enable the cell functions to get back to strength and
regain full performance.
Max 12 minute Session £10.00
Iridology
Equine Iridology enables the constitution of the horse to be assessed. It shows organ and inherited strengths and weaknesses.
Where tissue is damaged or imbalanced Equine Iridology shows the extent of any damage and whether the damage is old or new.
Iridology can also detect muscle spasms, digestion issues and can indicate if temperament changes are occurring as a result of a physical
problem.
Iridology can often provide or prove an explanation for a horse's lack of performance or the re-occurrence of an injury or problem.
20 -30 minute Session £25.00
Herbs +
The 'NaturaHorse' range of products include the most regularly used herbs, well known supplements and
general health products required by horse owners.
Used everyday Herbs help horses to remain healthy and therefore, happy.
Being a naturally roaming and grazing animal the horse will pick and choose the right grasses and leaves to eat as and
when necessary.
While many of the herbs grow naturally and are easily recognised the demands of our modern lifestyles and heavily grazed
paddocks can make this 'enlightened extra care' difficult. The NaturaHorse range helps you to help them.
The 'NaturaHorse' range of products supplement and help to improve a horses diet.
